If this book has piqued your interest at all, it's not too late to start reading! You can get a copy for free (only pay shipping) here, and I strongly urge you to consider reading it during Lent. I'm really enjoying starting my day with a passage from this book because it a) begins my day with Jesus and b) gives me great things to think about during the day. This past week, there's been a major focus on something that Matthew Kelly calls "The Jesus Question." And that question is what Jesus asks his disciples in Matthew 16:15: "Who do you say that I am?" Matthew Kelly offers a list of things that Jesus is along with how he proved that he really was all of the things he said he was. The proof is irrefutable, and I appreciated how simply Matthew Kelly put this.
"For those who delve into the question with a humble heart, the evidence is overwhelming, and sooner or later they each arrive at the same conclusion: Jesus is who he claimed to be."
I love that.
But today's passage turned the question around a little bit. Who does Jesus say that I am? My favorite reflection from the book is that "Jesus says that I am infinitely valuable." Woah. Sometimes, we feel that others are more important than us. They make more money, they have more friends, they get more likes on their Instagram photos, or they seem to contribute more to society. But none of these things matter in God's eyes because he made us exactly how he wanted us, and we are infinitely valuable to God's plan for salvation. I don't know about you, but that makes me want to work really hard to give my life to the One who designed me for a purpose.
